Early in the morning…

It’s usually the best time of the day when you are on the Way (well, stopping for a drink or a sandwich, or taking your shoes off at the end of the stage are also great moments!). But the first steps in the morning, with the sun coming up and the air feeling fresh … nothing like it!

English Capsule 7: Answers

Did you know that it’s called THE SHELL OF SAINT JAMES? It comes from an animal called a SCALLOP, so you can also call it a SCALLOP SHELL.

Here is some more information about the shell from Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scallop#Shell_of_Saint_JamesThe scallop shell is the traditional emblem of James, son of Zebedee and is popular with pilgrims on the Way of St James to the apostle’s shrine at Santiago de Compostela in Spain. Medieval Christians making the pilgrimage to his shrine often wore a scallop shell symbol on their hat or clothes.

You can continue to read more about the scallop shell and the symbolism associated with it on that same Wikipedia page.

¡Buen camino!

Meeting in Amersfoort (NL)

The St James project is travelling to the NL. Next Wednesday (21th) all partners will meet in Amersfoort and work hard (as usual) on several items like linguistic platform, testing activities, selection of  pilot testers and many …many others important aspects.

This is our last chance to fix everything before the final European conference in Brussels at the end of the year.

See you there!!!

Cheers

This blog has a new look!

We’ve made some changes in this blog design, because the old one was showing only the latest post and was preventing us from having more visibility and visits.

Apart from the visual design change, we’ve made some improvements as well:

  • Last 10 posts are shown in the main page, and not only the last one.
  • Added integration with the Facebook page: now, a visitor can “Like” our facebook page directly from the blog.
  • Added Twitter integration: it is also showing the latest tweets from our Twitter account, and a visitor can follow @englishstjames from the blog.
  • Included support for browsing from mobile devices: Now, the blog is shown in a different flavour to fit on the mobile devices screens. Like this:

What is your opinion about the new look? Do you like it? Please comment and send your opinion!

These boots are made for walking….

You usually have to leave your boots by the door in most Pilgrim’s hostels. For obvious reasons…. And sometimes you find abandoned boots along the way. I wonder, why do they leave just ONE boot on the road? Do they then hobble off, with one boot and one sock?!

Estella

Copia de Copia de 2010 142 Estella

In Estella: they have lost their hands, but you can still buy bread just like that! Have you noticed the faces? They are the same faces you see all along the Way, all over France and Spain: the high cheek bones and almond eyes. And especially that little half smile. It’s the same face that has been passed down since the Greeks. Do you see a similarity to The Rampin Head?
